Best place (a.k.a. best price) online to buy a case of oil filters; what kinda of hose to use to replace PCV hose ('85 turbo) 200

Hi everyone, just wondering where all of you who buy cases of oil filters online buy from and who has the best price for the goods.

Also, what kinda of hose should I or can I use to replace the crankcase ventilation hose, the ones that goes across the valve cover to one of the air lines near the turbo- the one I have is held together with electrical tape in a couple places. Is radiator hose okay? I asked at the parts stores I go to if there was a Volvo part for this, but neither could find one.

Thanks,

Yeah, I think I'll see about the OEM hose. I took my car to a shop today because I'm tired of messing with the cold start problem (see if they can figure it out) and the mechanic I talked to said it was the PCV hose, and because of the seal it needs to make at the air hose near the turbo that it's better to go with the Volvo part- just need to find a cheap enough source, he thought (off the top of his head) that they were around $50 (probably with markup, but not sure).
I don't use synthtic- what's the overall consensus on that?
Thanks

The PO used a length of common heater hose, clamped on each end. Once I get this engine running again, maybe I'll opt for a real OEM hose.

I would get the hose from Volvo - you can try using some oil resistant PCV hose - IF you can match the size. Some of the bends are a little tight for regular hose though.

I replaced mine 4+ years back with the Volvo part - so I must not have been able to use regular OTC hose - but heck if I can remember.

Oil filters, shop around. I hope you are using synthetic oil - makes those hoses last a LOT longer, and your turbo, too.

FCP Groton for the oil filters, no question. $33/case of 10 + (very reasonable) shipping. UPS Ground take about a week to get out here.

IPD actually advertised that hose that goes over the valve cover in their catalog. I think it was about $20. Dunno, Nick (of FCP Groton fame) may carry that hose as well. Can't hurt to e-mail him: foreigncarparts@hotmail.com... I got the feeling that was a vaccum hose and not the PCV. Oh well, I'm off watching Caddyshack. What the hell do I know?

One of these days I'm gonna pry the freaking intake manifold off... that thing is sure cemented to the head.

P.S. It sure looks like a week from this next Friday (so a week from the 7th) I'm taking Rita to Reno. You're up in Sonoma somewhere, right? Need any help? Wanna take a spin? :-D

East coast- FCP Groton and Swedish auto parts
West coast- RPR and IPD

Or just go to the various on-line Volvo parts sites and look for prices, usually the web specials have oil filters listed. I usually pay about $4.00 each for a block of ten with shipping.

Cool, I'll haveto check them out then. I checked IDP, they were about $44 or something; I know somewhere online I saw a case (10) for like $34 or so. Thanks.
