Crank pulley/harmonic balancer torque ? 700 1985

Anybody recall the torque setting for the balancer (b230ft engine)? I can't seem to find it in my manual or the FAQ although I thought I saw it somewhere.

I am trying to get the car put back together, and I am exausted-stayed up till 3 am last night replacing stuff. By the way, I bought one of the cheaper Scan- tech balancers, and it looks like a close enough replacement. Unfortunately, the special Volvo tool does not fit into the slots like it does on a Volvo balancer. I was able to get it to fit by grinding down a bit of metal on the tool, but it slowed me down quite a bit. Just thought I would pass that on.

Thanks

Torque to 43 ft-lbs, then angle tighten another 60º. Tool 5284 does not always fit the slots in the Volvo harmonic balancers either. I had one of those on the 1986 760T which I recently sold. You can file the slots on the harmonic balancer out, too.

Thanks again John. Whew, I got into a real job (at least for me). I have not done this much to a car before, so it's nice to have this board available in case I get into trouble. This weekend I replaced: 7 bushings (alternator+air conditioning), timing belt, timing belt tensioner, and the harmonic balancer. I have more stuff to replace, but I am way to tired now - maybe next weekend.

Thanks
