Seven years ago a friend gave me an old seat that had been sitting in his garage. He said it was from a 1979 260, in leather. I put everything I could find on the leather and got it just soft enough to use.
But until now, even with the leather being a bit lumpy, it's the best car seat I have ever used on a regular basis. Better than the seats from the same era 240s.
Problem is, the leather and stitching are both giving out. I thought about having it recovered, but the foam is 24 years old already. I also thought that if I stripped the seat down to find out what is special about 260 series seats, I'd never get another seat that good again.
Can anyone tell me what's special about these seats? Is it just my imagination, or is there something real that's different from 240 seats. Could that something be recreated with new foam and covering?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
