flywheel 140-160

what would i do if i removed the flywheel, but did not mark the position? the haynes manual shows a picture of a flywheel for a B21 motor with the balance marks facing on the right side, at top dead center. is the B20F(1973-144)the same? and how important is it to balance the clutch and flywheel? thank you.........

There are normally some type of marks on the back side of the flywheel
that indicates the previous position (rust where holes were or a notch?)

You can plonk them on any old how. They're not factory marked for position.

Then it might be better to reinstall it one or two bolt holes off, so that the engaging starter pinion hits onto a different stretch of ring gear. Four-cyl engines tend to stop in two positions, 180 degrees from each other, so there are two alternative available on a 6-bolt flange. --C.G.
