Dash 140-160 1972

I am trying to put my dash back on "properly." How is the hinged part that includes the clock held at the top. The PO had it held with a couple of big bolts, washers etc - which really can't be correct, can it?

Thanks, and Merry Christmas!

Kent

As I recall, my 142E had plastic fastners that inserted into a mounting hole. You turned them 45 degrees to release, back 45 degrees to tighten.

Yup... Bad Judgement has a good memory. The holes should be oval shaped, and them plastic fasteners would clamp the hinged piece to the back piece. If the holes in yours ain't oval anymore, the plastic fasteners probably won't work.

Or if the plastic is broken around the holes.

But, if the oval holes are still oval, and nothing looks broken... where to find, oh where to find. You might check with local interior type shops. Maybe they are a standard item. If not, you'll have to find used ones (they break easily), or come up with something else that looks and works good. I would think that replacing the bolts with plastic screws of some sort would look fine....
