93 240 CAN'T SHIFT OUT OF PARK! 200

This is a 1993 240, this morning I was unable to get shift lever out of the park position. I tried to override it by pushing the override shift button, no use. Help! Thanks

Be sure you have the ignition key turned to "on" or the over-ride will not work.

The override latch is located at the rear of the shifter travel and below the brushes. You insert your right index finger down through the brush and hook around the lever which is yellow and pull toward you. If you have to do this again you must have blown the fuse for the realease. Replace fuse. The button on the side of your shifter is to disengage the overdrive.

Thanks for your reply. There is not a yellow device on this 93 240. the over buttom I was refering to is the shift lock override button just forward of the shift lever. You press this when your stuck in park. I checked fuses related to system, all are good. What now? Thanks any way.

When all else fails read the owners manual or call the dealer and speak to a service writer, they should tell you.
