ignition rotor not coming off!!! 93 200

The car is back and running again. After giving the fuse panel a good cleaning and fixing a ground strap. My question is I cannot get the ignition rotor to come off of my 93 240!! Is there a trick? The new part just looks like a key for correct placement and a piece of metal for tension so I would think it should pull off somewhat easy. Any tricks/advice would be appreciated!

Tap it around the perimeter of the collar where it goes over the distributor shaft. You can give it a few sharp raps (don't nail it TOO hard though to avoid messing up the distributor).

Usually they pull off after a while. Put a little bit of grease on the keyway when you put the new one in. It helps to keep it from sticking next time.

I have a rough time with mine, you have to wiggle and pull. Doesn't come easy. Before you put it back on, give it a little grease. Makes a differance.

If you are replacing it anyway it doesn't matter if you break it. Put a rag round the base to catch any bits.

Funny you say to break it...........Before I read this message today I just replaced my rotor and cap/wires/plugs....and I could not get my rotor off for anything!!! So i figured since I have a new one why not just break the old one off, so I did. Used a hammer and chissel. Tapped the base of the rotor and wal-la! They're really pretty brittle.
