Does anyone know what can cause a brick to run rough?

what do u mean by 'rough'? maybe you have a flat tire?

Fuel pressure regulator could be another cause or maybe a throttle body that needs cleaning.

Could be many things...

If your cars is fuel injected one of the couses for engine roughness could be the air mass meter. Itīs the black box just few inches behind the air filter box.

Symptoms on my car: Very rough engine at idle speed - not when driving.

Problem was solved when mass meter was replaced.

Could also be the oxygen sensor if "Lambda Sond" warning light appears.

Post some of your symptoms for a better problem solving!
