Turbowagon won't idle: FIXED 200

Alex nailed it. I forgot to install the little hose that runs from "extra boost" solenoid to the elbow on the intake. put it back in and wa-la, it idles. Funny how when things like this happen, I start thinking too much, worry about the CIS computer, start thinking about changing the throttle stop or adjusting the mixture when all I have to do is put it back together like it came apart.

The boost is back! Since this car's been down for 2 months, I've been driving a 81 245. I now realize how painfully slow the NA cars are and am very glad to be back in the land of forced induction!

Anyone who needs advice about putting center cartridges in Turbos, ask away, I've got some experience now. Amazing how I got receipts for $1100 turbo jobs when I bought this car. I just did it for $200.

Turbowagon won't idle: FIXED 200

Hey I do have questions. How did you do it for 200 bucks? Did you just put new bearings and seals in you old one? I am thinking of doing one of mine so I would appreciate any info you have.

I found this Ebay seller who is selling really cheap center cartridges. She says they are rebuilt with bronze bearings, cleaned and balanced. It looked like a well done job when I got it, I have no idea how long it will last. We had a little trouble with getting the correct compressor wheel for my application but it was resolved in the end. Here's the link.

FCP groton can put a nifty turbo install kit together for you as well. It's not listed on the 200 series page, you have to look on the 700 page.

Well thank you. You got me wondering what that solenoid did. So I went out to the wagon (which makes significantly more boost) and poked around. D'oh. There's a T that leads to the wastegate actuator. Re-checked the sedan. D'oh! That end of the T is capped off.

Once I hook this all up, I wonder how much longer the clutch will hold out with this newfound boost :-D
