Second try....85 245DL AW70 No OD. Has anyone had experience with the governor 200

Hello Brickers.

I still (going in 1 year) do not have 4th gear OD in my 85 245DL AW70. I know that the solenoid is working...(I replaced the solenoid and repaired the wiring and can hear the solenoid cycle on/off at the trans.) the trans will shift into 4th when traveling over 45mph and I take my foot off of the accelerator....(decel) but when tip into the throttle it goes back to and stays in 3rd.

I have checked the shift cable from the throttle and it seems normal. I have good downshift operation when I romp on it. Down-shifting seems the same as it always was. The problem seemed to come on gradually.

I read where someone had the trans governor?? worked on to repair this concern.
Has anyone had experience with this before?

Thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

If I were in your situation I think I would disconnect the kickdown cable at the throttle spool. The cable should be very free in its housing and slide easily in and out when you pull on it. See if you get normal shifting with it disconnected. With the cable disconnected it should shift very quickly through the gears and into overdrive. If it stays there I would suspect the kickdown cable is either out of adjustment or needs replaced. If they hang up at all they can produce some weird problems in shifting up or down (or in and out of overdrive).
