Floor panel rusting? Where? 200 1989

240 sedan 1989 150k miles Ottawa-Canada car.

Very nice condition for its age. It was garaged for a few years, though often driven in the winter. Most of the body is original paint and nice.
Some minor rust under the headlight trim. The underside looks nice.

Question: I hear about floor panel rusting, not sure WHERE exactly.
Where does this form?
I would like to pull the seats/carpet to check and maybe shoot rustcheck there...

Can anyone advise me where this forms and how to find it so I don't undo carpet and panelling for nothing.

Thanks,

Acually, as an easier alternative, just look under the car. The rust usually develops on the floor pans, which are the sunken areas where your feet go, including the areas immediately rear of that -- looks like a pan. These are easily visible even without a lift. Just look under each side of the car and punch around on it. You can tell if you have rust developing.

And if you do, you should probably repair with sheet metal from the top and fiberglassing/under-coating from the bottom.

Floor panel rusting? Where? Yes BUT, it usually rusts from the inside out. (NMI) 200 1989

For sure pull carpet - around the seat and seat mount points, around your feet, around the wire run tray...pull the whole carpet up if you can...
