some one e-mailed me today no names but was asking about me wet sanding a hood. Well i bought my 240 from miami and after it was painted by PO it sat a good year till i got it. Needless to say it was never waxed and the salt air got into the unprotected paint and left raildust or pepper rust all over it. Badly i might add! so after talking to this person i said might as well get it over with so i clay bared,wet sanded,compounded it and waxed it if not for e-mail i would of kept putting it off as i have been now for some time i would like to say thanks dude

What is clay? What does it exactly do? I have read many things (well I guess not enough!)on it, but I still have no idea what it is. Will it take out oxidation? Or do I need to buff that stuff out?

opps clay is made by miguires and automagic both are good and easy to use to use simply wash car. kneed clay flat and put in palm of your hand.Clay front to rear. Never in circles as this puts swirl marks in the paint! Always have water running over where you are claying. After a few strokes kneed the clay to clean it than rub some more and you should feel the surface smoth out under your hand.You should wax car after claying as it removes wax NEVER use the spray bottel of luber that comes with the clay as this is garbage and gets thrown out water works best dont worry about what bottel says you can do it in sunlight since you will hopefully use water this will keep the surface cool and let you see what your doing some times the clay will rub into the paint and is hard to remove this only happends with the spray lub that comes with it this will not happen if you use water clay can be bought at any auto store for 15.00 and is in a red box with yellow clay,junk spray lub,and a lil bottel wax the wax is good or you can use any wax you want this is the miguires automagic is only on a ditribitors truck witch if you see a automagic truck at the local auto dealer stop and ask him for it he will be glad to sell you it they lov it when people of the street buy from them both co. make good products so its up to you the clay takes the stuff out of paint that can come lose and get under buff pad and scratch the paint the clay will also turn a blk color this is dirt that you did not know was there dont drop the clay on ground as it will be hard to remove debris from it dont use thinner as it will melt clay

I've use the Mothers Clay Bar System and it really worked well for me. The paint was much smoother when finished. Really easy too. I polished then sealed the finish afterwards. The clay was new to me but was great.

its a clay like bar that when used with water removes that pepper rust , raildust , and tar tree sap its like a eraser for your car it should be used all ways befor a buff as it takes that bumpy feel out of the paint and removes the impurities from paint not realy for removeing oxidized but it does remove wax from paint that can build up on buff pad hope this helps

i was cleaning pads made by miguires when i made the post. It is a MOTHERS prod i was talking about miguires is hard to find but they do make it. Sorry my fault!
