240 Turbo Vacuum Hose Routing...big oops! 200

I thought I had everything labled but it appears I missed one...I had to replace the wiring harness on my '81 242 turbo so I pulled the intake manifold in order to replace all the vacuum hoses, clean the oil breather box and replace all the sensors. I am now in the process of putting everything back together, but it appears that I've forgotten something. The throttle body has two vacuum lines attached to it on the side closest to the head. One of the lines comes up through the intake manifold from the charcoal cannister. Where does the other one come from? As always, any help would be appreciated.

EUREKA! 200

As soon as I lifted the hood this afternoon I found the errant hose, still with the label on it...I had tucked it out of the way when I put the intake manifold back on and just missed it. Boy do I feel stupid ;-)

Many thanks to those who responded with help and advice. Once again the BB comes through.

240 Turbo Vacuum Hose Routing...big oops! 200

I've had 6 or 7 responses to my question between here and other forums and there have been quite a few differences on where the vacuum hoses originate and end. Does anyone know of a definitive source for a vacuum hose diagram? Volvo green books maybe?

Thanks,

There is the cryptic underhood sticker is probably your best bet.

From the posts here, there seems to be an agreement that two should go to the charcol canister. I'll just add that the 84 and 85 models will have a different arrangement (no check valve, nothing going to the CPR, and a weird cold enrichment valve hooked up to the CIS computer).

Excellent diagram Alex, thanks. I'm saving that one in the Volvo Files...although I hope I never have to do this again ;-)

The underhood diagram is, as you say, cryptic at best.

If you read between the lines of Bentley/green manuals - you can figure it out -I will climb in and under the 245Ti (10K mile oil change today!) - and reply this PM. I'm at work in my "nice" clothes right now....sorry...

Undoubtedly my car's going to have hoses going to different places.. but I seem to remember three vacuum fittings on the throttle body (aside from the idle motor ones).

One goes to the distributor (with a tee that goes to the canister as well), one to the temp controlled valve in the head for cold enrichment, and one disappears off to the charcol canister.

On your car I suspect the one going to the distributor is going to have a check valve in there somewhere, and may make a stop at the control pressure regulator.

Don,

The turbo routing must be different than the non-Turbo, but just in case this helps, here's what I found on my 81 non-Turbo. It has a vacuum line that comes off the back of the throttle body. The line routes under the manifold to a "T". From the "T" one line goes to the distributor and the other goes to the cannister below the front of the driver's fender. Good luck.

Actually I think they both come up from the charcoal canister. The smaller diameter one has a "T" in it that connects to the vacuum advance on the distributor. At least that is the set up on our 82 B21ft.

Thanks for the response Randy.

The way mine was set up, the smaller diameter hose, from the "T" goes to the small nipple on the intake manifold between intake #2 and #3. I'm still stumped...
