ignition wires 200 1992

I am going to change the ignition wires on my 92 brick. The current ones are the originals with 83,000 miles on them. I looked at autozone. Their brand cost 22.99. They charge $55. for bosch or beck/arnley. Is it worth the difference or should I go to the Volvo dealer and really pay top dollar. Thanks

Bougicord is OEM. These are well built wires, good radio supression, no problem with ends coming off, and plenty of spark. Cost a little more, but will last and perform for years.

Ray,
Bought a set of Bosch wires 4 weeks ago and all I can say is: they s@#k hairy goat-balls. The insulation is already rubbing through, there are spark plug connections which are loose, and, to top it off, when I carefully tried to remove the wire on #4 it basically feel apart. If I wanted to build a set of wires I would have bought Accels... I just ordered a "new" set of Bougicord from FCP Groton yesterday to replace what I thought was a quality set of wires. Two cents. Take it, or leave it in the tray by the register. Peace, Jon

Don't mess around with any of those - use Magnecor wires. They cost more than Bosch, et al, but are cheaper than the dealer.

Hi Ray!
My two bits: Considering that these are sensitive parts that tend to deteriorate over time, and that the last thing you want is ignition problems, my vote is for parts with known quality.

Erling.

PS: Nice to see that you managed to sort out your rear lights problem!

Just bought new Volvo OEM (Bougicord) wires from FCP Groton as Detailer mentioned. I think they were about $33. Make sure you buy the coil wire too as it comes as a separate part# - about $4. Wires - $33 and coil wire - $4 = $37 total. You might want to call and ask about that though. My wire set included a coil wire.

Bosch was on the car when I bought it but most people on this board recommend Bougicord or Magnacore (more expensive).
