squeaky clean! 700 1990

Not that I'm bragging or anything, but I spent a lot of time on Sunday cleaning up the Brick, so I felt like I had to post pictures. Here are two!

Long live Volvos! :)

That is a very nice looking car. I don't know why, but I thought you owned a gold colored 740 wagon.

Very nice! It's hard work keeping your Brick looking sharp in the city... definitely worth the effort, though...

Nice. I got a 85 740gle, with the same paint scheme and blue interior but with 14" wheels. Been garaged and only 98000miles,(curtesy of uncle sam, kept me gone alot). Got mine new in Germany when stationed there. You running the auto or manual tranny?

Very charp. Show Room.

What did you use on the bumpers? I can't find anything that lasts through a rain. I tried black shoe polish on a corner of the bumber - what a pain.

I got good results with another product sold by IPD - Forever Black. I did my bumpers early last fall, and they're still looking very good. I took my time prepping & applying the stuff... it's definitely not a quick-fix kind of product.

Brian, is Forever Black more like a dye? In other words, does it actually color the bumper or whatever? The Black Again is more of a dressing. Just curious. Thanks.

Yes, it's permanent black dye. You would probably only want to use it on something you want to be black.

Try "Black Again" from ipd. Kinda like a super heavy duty Armor All. It is not a paint; you even use it on the black metal trim pieces by the windows and rocker panels. Works really good on those wide, rough side molding strips on 240's, too. Good stuff.

I tried Mother's Back to Black. Put it on Sunday, it streaked during a short light rain on Monday and completely washed away on Tuesday.

"Black Again", I'll try it.

Yeah, none of the stuff I've used seems to last through rain either. There's something called Permanent Black or something that IPD sells that is supposed to do it, but I'm reluctant to do so because I don't think my bumpers are actually black. They're very very dark greay. Black wouldn't look right.

In any case, everything is ArmorAlled. I used ArmorAll vinyl/plastic protectant stuff on the bumpers and trim, Armorall Tire Shine for the tires, and the same vinyl/plastic stuff for the interior as well. Everything is very shiny.

I need to figure out a good way of getting rid of scratches. The scratch out stuff I picked up from autozone doesn't really help since the scratches are inside the clearcoat themselves.

I just got a product whose name I can't recall from IPD that is supposed to help smooth out touched-up scratches (you blob on the paint let it dry a little and then use this stuff to blend it in) we will see if it works!

I also am using Black Again, and it seems to be a good product, unlike a paint which is opaque, it is more of a stain that doesn't completely blacken a gray bumper.

Pix look fabulous. You inspire me to do the same with my two bricks. Showoff!
