Air Conditioner Blower Motor Switch 900

The wife's '94 960 with 140k miles quit putting out cold air. The compressor cycles on and off, but the blower doesn't operate. I'm clueless as to how to diagnose the problem. Is there a way to check the switch and/or motor to get a starting point? Are there diagnostic codes I can retrieve that may provide a clue?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated by my wife. It gets hot and humid here in the south.

Robert

At the risk of asking a dumb question....

Is the fan control on the control panel set to Auto? If it is set to "0", the fan won't run.

Not a dumb question at all, in my case. I'm the guy who posted a question about the antenna motor not working because I didn't know about the car wash override switch that disables it (the icon on the switch looks like a little martini glass - I just figured it wasn't working when I bought it).

Anyway, I tried the switch on all settings, including AUT, 0, 1, 2, etc. I'm just wondering if it's more likely to be the blower motor or the switch. Is there a history or trend for this type of failure?

Robert

FWIW I'm not aware of any history on this one. I have the wiring diagram for the '95 960, so if you have a question in that regard, get in touch.

i would start at the motor, un plug the two wire connector and seeif you have power to the purple or violet wire. if you do have power use a jumper wire and proved the power from the purple wire to the motor and then using another jumper provide a good ground, if it works you must have a bad power unit or ecc. the power unit is the wierd looking box with two multiple pin connections on it.it is attached to the outside of the air bos near the fan motor itself.
