Recommendations for remote oil filter setup 200 1982

Hi all,

Looking for recommendations for a remote oil filter set up for my 1982 242 Turbo. Would prefer to continue to use the origianl Mann/Volvo filters.

Thanks,

Mike

You should definitely use the steel braided teflon lines as mentioned in the post from the archives.

Mike,

Found this in the archives:

http://www.brickboard.com/ARCHIVES/1999JAN/20022339.shtml

There is also something on Dave Barton's site about his setup.

See you in Westwood next weekend. I'll have the 242t there if DMV sends my tags in time.

Eeic, Don,

Thanks for your replies. I did my 1st oil change on the car last week, what a PITA.

From your posts it appears that the kits do not come with SS braided lines, but they must be made up else where....

Where do I get them made up?

Congrats on getting the 242 running Don.

Thanks,

Mike

While they are available all over,if your going to mail order one go with one out of a VW magazine or website. They use them alot on bugs and buggies and they will use your mann filter. If you are shopping locally tell the parts person your using a Fram Ph16 or Ph8A.(used on fords for years, and years and years)That should cut down on the blank stares. When I was adding a remote cooler and filter to my volvo I learned to stop explaining the application,it saved agrivation! I like "push-lock" hose too,(I clamped mine)works great.
I have sent people to vw magazines twice in last couple days.I swear I don't like them in general but I do have a "glass" buggy.maybe it will get volvo power some day!(I've seen it done)
