Hello all,
I have a an 88 740T. I recently replaced the main fuel pump and filter brvsudr the old pump was howling at the moon. I could even hear it with the radio turned up. So I replaced both the pump and the filter only to have the new filter make the same noise! Fustration! I checked the FPR and its working fine to my knowledge. I pulled the hose off the end and turned the motor over and lots of gas came out. I put a small hose down the tank to listen for the aux. pump but I wasn't sure if what I was hearing was the in tank pump or just some the soundes from the engine reveriberating in the tank. It was not very loud. So, I pulled the plug on the in tank pump and started the car. It started like usual (usual meaning it had to turn over a little bit more than normal) and the pump made the same noise except the noise didn't fluctuate like it did when the in tank pump was plugged in. What gives?? Over the last couple of months I've replaced the injectors, seals, filter and pump. This is the only thing left that hasnt been replaced! (excluding fpr) I would love some help. Ciao-
JS
I just had my brick painted so having it break down it rather anticlimatic and I would really like to be driving it again without worrying that I am ruining my new pump.
