I thought the fuel system was simple... 700

no no, fuel did not come out the vacuum end, but through a piece of hose I attached to the return end.

But, I found the problem, a broken gound wire right at the base of the prepump housing. I tapped and drilled a hole to mount screw in the ground and started the car up only to have it run for a second and then die and refuse to start up again. I've just about had it with this car. I know it has a lot of miles but this is ridiculous. I don't know what to look for now that I'm worse off with a no start situation.
