A/C aftermarket or not you tell me 140-160

I'm in need of an A/C for my 1973 145. The texas heat is killing me. 105 degrees outside and a nice black interior in the volvo ouch. I'm wondering if anyone knows of some aftermarket kits that would work or would it be better trying to track down original parts. Just about everything from the original A/C was removed by the previous owner for reasons unknown to me. The only part left is the little switch to turn it on. So if you have an insight as to what I should do your info would be greatly appreciated.

I put a rotary compressor from a Mazda in my 164E several years ago. The brackets were simple - just a couple of pieces of flat steel shaped on a vise and drilled.

I used the connections from the Mazda hoses as an example when I had new AC hoses made, but I also had the old Volvo hoses, too.

You could get a generic condenser from acsource.com, but you'll have to find an evaporator designed for the 164.

My advice would be to track down an original style evaporator unit (the part that fits inside, in front of the passenger) and let some A/C specialty place fill in the rest of the spots with more modern parts. The original piston compressor is junk (and probably won't pump enough R134a), a modern rotarty unit works much better and drains less HP. An original radiator might work, but will be 30 years old. And you'd want all new hoses, driers, and an R134a orifice.
