Installing Cruise Control 900 1995

Hi Everyone, Some advise please, I have a 95-960 without Cruise Control and I am lead to beleave that it is not to bad a job to install into the car providing the wiring loom is present. Some of these vehicles, I understand were fitted with wiring looms and some were not, also any advice on what is required and how to fit would be of great help. Thanks in anticipation.

Dave

Your UK car probably does not have the cruise control wiring harness installed at the factory. Volvo does sell a harness for installing cruise control in your car. With the harness and cruise control components, it is a bolt in job.

Since all and 960sV/S90s came with cruise in the US that I'm aware of, I wonder whether you are either outside the States or someone has helped themselves to your unitl. If it's the former, you're right it should be prewired. You will ned a new stalk with controls, of course and the rest of the unit. I've never even had to look at one of these, other than to set it, but later model 240s were prewired and installing was not much of a problem. I really think it might be close to 'plug and play', at the risk of oversimplifying it. If it's the latter, then there's no telling whhat's missing, but hopefully not the wiring lumes.

If it's a US model w/o cruise as OEM, then Volvo started to chop off items to be used as options rather early. I know with my 97 car, the nivomats and limited ALD became options, as they were stardard on 92's and later.

Thanks for your comments John, Yes I am outside of the U.S, in the U.K actually.

But thanks anyway, at least I can follow up on your comments.

Cheers

Dave
