minor tune up today now a slight missing.HELP! 700 1992

Happy fourth everybody!

today i did a minor tune up. I replaced the wires, cap, rotor and spark plugs. Everything seem ok. It was a real PITA to get the cap off. I did finally get the thing off and put on a new rotor and cap. I may have cracked the cap because i did hear a slight craking noise when i was tightening the three screws.I am pretty sure i installed the wire correctly. I will go back and check to see if the spark plugs are seated. When i took my car out for a spin,it seemed ok when i giveit alittle gas but when the car was idling,i could hear a slight missing. It's only slightly miss. Any help is appreciated.thx.

hi everybody.

It turns out that when i installed the rotor,it was not seated properly so when i tightened the three bolts,i cracked the rotor. iwas pissed! So i cleaned the old cap and rotor with sand paper for a better connection. All is good.A pretty costly mistake tho. cap and rotor was 60 bones. Live and learn.

Thax for everone's help. Peace!

Did you get the "right" kind of spark plug for your car,
and did you gap them correctly ?
I trust it the spark plug wire connectore match and fit
the tops of the plugs ?
Lastly, check the wire going from distributor to the coil.
Thihs one tends to wiggle out from gravity and vibration.

Make sure you check the plug at the distributor also. It is a pesky little devil made out of plastic that seems to break if you stare at it too hard. Fortunately you can get another plastic housing for a couple bucks if the wires and plug contacts are OK. It is not hard (once the cap is off) to remove the whole distributor and get a good look at the plug - just make sure you mark the distributor position so you don't have to retime. By all means also check the wire to spark plug connections as they will often seem to be seated when they are not. The cap is a pain to remove get some small 1/4" drive sockets that fit to make the job easier. You don't need to hunker down to tighten these just get them fairly snug.

It's easy to not push the wire ends down on the cap, allowing poor contact at the brass tips. Make sure they are clicking in place.
