Free wagon shell 200 1984

After seeing BC's post about his wagon.. and that whole thread about silly body work.. here's my offering.

I would love it if somoene came to haul away my metallic blue wagon. The body's in pretty nice shape (1 rust hole in the floor pan, a few small dents). Paint is decent (mild dusty look on the roof, small blemish on the hood).

There are some mechanical components, all of the suspension, it's got wheels and tires... and a spare radiator.

I can't afford to part it out anymore if I'll have to end up paying someone to take it away. The one person who was interested in such a project (he had multiple 240s with nice interiors and awful bodies) found a project closer to home.

The neighbors haven't complained, yet. Except the awful woman who can't keep her dalmation on its leash.

I'm near San Francisco, California.

It's a free wagon.. worth about what I'm asking for it :-)

If only you were closer... 200 1984

If only you lived in Michigan...

My blue wagon is in decent shape, (except the rust in the rocker panels) but there are a lot around here that have bit the rust bullet. I can think of a few who would be interested if it were a bit closer.

God bless and I hope you find a home for it. (Kind of sad to see good vehicles go to the graveyard.)

Yup 200 1984

Not surprisingly there's not much of a market for these kinds of vehicles, especially in California.

What bugs me the most tho is having to pay someone to dispose of a car that's still got some (IMO) salvage value.

Paying to dispose of a car??? -Argh! 200 1984

Argh! You have to PAY to dispose of your cars? -Things must really be different out there...

Around here, the salvage yards typically give you $50 for a car that you haven't removed anything from. If you decide to pull the wheels, computer, engine, and anything else, then they'll simply haul it away for free. I think current prices that the local steel mills pay for scrap metal is $38 a ton, so the parts yard is still coming out ahead in the deal. (not to mention the money they get from selling the catalytic converter to the cat-recyclers who recover the precious metals and catalyst).
