Paying to dispose of a car??? -Argh! 200 1984

Argh! You have to PAY to dispose of your cars? -Things must really be different out there...

Around here, the salvage yards typically give you $50 for a car that you haven't removed anything from. If you decide to pull the wheels, computer, engine, and anything else, then they'll simply haul it away for free. I think current prices that the local steel mills pay for scrap metal is $38 a ton, so the parts yard is still coming out ahead in the deal. (not to mention the money they get from selling the catalytic converter to the cat-recyclers who recover the precious metals and catalyst).
