Tire preferences for 1992 740 Wagon ----All Season 700

Need to buy new tires...I live in Cleveland and the local Volvo-Saab garage strongly recommends the LST Bridgestone All Seasons.

Any thoughts??

If you want a great all season tire go with the Nokian NRW orWRs. Etires says it's the best tire they sell. They're actually rated as a snow tire but are an all season tire. They're made in Finland and were formerly owned by the phone maker Nokia. See http://www.nokiantyres.com for more info.

WR is replacing the NRW series, but I was only able to get NRW from dealer - he must want to get rid of his NRW stock first.

I got a set of Dunlop SP Sport A2 H-rated tires for my '89 740 a few months ago and have been very pleased. Good traction dry and wet - not sure about snow. These are highly rated at Tirerack.com / The best part was that they were only $52.00 each. Liked them so much that I just put a new set on my '95 850.

I have Michelin MXV4's on my 745T. Great interstate tire due to being very quiet at high speed. Not cheap, but they do have a wear rating of 400 so they last pretty long. Over all not many tires can come close to the Michelin. They are almost useless in any type of snow. In water they run pretty well. I have had the eraser (Soft) tires. Yes they handle great but they don't last past 20K with any type of fun factor used in excess.

I have a '92 745t, 6 months ago I bought a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE 950's. I love them. I don't plan on using them in the snow, but in our wet Spring they were great, they drive quiet on the highway, corner nicely and it's much harder to make the tail end spin out. On other cars I've recently been through Dunlop D60 A2's (a little noisey) and Yokohama Avid H4's (not so great in the wet). These RE950's outdo them both (also cost more than them as well). Call tire rack and get their recommendation - they actually steered me away from more expensive tires. Tirerack.com also has a lot of user input, read some of the comments.

I have never owned a pair of Bridgestones that I didn't like, but haven't had an all season by them. Currently running Yokohoma Avid H4 or some such thing. Had em on the non-Volvo through two winters without complaint from those who use it. Just put some on the V70. Others here use the Yokos and have recomended them.

I've got Yokohama EVSs' on my '90 wagon. I put them on this past March. So far, I'm really pleased. Great in the rain, but my guess is they won't be all that great in snow.

However, I use Yoko winter tires all around for the snow, and they are great!

Hope this helps,

Greydog
