I got a set of Dunlop SP Sport A2 H-rated tires for my '89 740 a few months ago and have been very pleased. Good traction dry and wet - not sure about snow. These are highly rated at Tirerack.com / The best part was that they were only $52.00 each. Liked them so much that I just put a new set on my '95 850.
