anyone familiar with a huge clunkin out of the rear end upon acceleration? got a 240 wagn automatic thats gettin worse by the mile.

If on slightly hard acceleration, eg. left turn to make lights, may be your transmission mount is a bit soft and allowing movemnt of whole drive line.

If it's with acceleration then probably trailing arm bushes, and perhaps u-joints. IMHO, bad rear wheel bearings don't clunk only on acceleration.

Probably a set of bad trailing arm bushings.

ABSOLUTELY this are the symptoms of worn rear axle bushings !!
