No engine installed. 160 front end, posi rear, custom wide track wheels, decent body except for rust hole in left side rain gutter, front edge of hood, and rear wheel openings (rolled for clearance).

My son wants to swap the rear with a '73 142 (98k) in the garage for the last 5 years, but it hasn't happened yet, so....

The car is free, but we might have some stuff to sell, such as B20 block, FI head(s), 4 carb (CVK) set-up, plus stuff I haven't seen in a long time.

This is basically hearsay, but I understand there was some circle track sedan racing in CT back in late '70s or early '80s (Waterford Speedway maybe?) And that was supposedly this car's history.

It does/did have extra gauges, MSD ignition, Bilsteins, and ratty Recaros, plus the mods mentioned above. We've had the car since about '95 and trailered it here in '97. A project that just never got off the ground. My son turned it up in Westport, and sold me on it's potential. But...

Still is!! The track is still open and going great. It's one of only a few venues where this kind of division can run. That car could still be legal if it acn be adapted to the spec carburetor now required!

For years, a local guy campaigned what I think was an 81 242GLT, converted to a Canadian Solex-carb setup. The Mustang people (the locals) tend to try to put any unusual cars into the wall- by the end of it's career it was significantly narrower! I've seen a wide variety of cars campaigned in the X-Cars class, formerly called "Mini-Stocks"- people have run Rabbits/Golfs, Saab 99s, Toyota Corolla and Celicas, Mustangs, Chevy Monzas, Cavaliers and even a Chevette.

If you're ever in Eastern Connecticut, stop in on a Saturday night for regular racing or a Wednesday for X-cars and Demo Derbys. Ever seen a School Bus Demolition Derby? You haven't lived....

Thanks for the info, Rob. If I was still in Danbury ('85 to '93) I'd be checking things out in Waterford for sure. Good to hear that what I'd been told is true, but makes it harder to give up. This was one of those deals where son comes up with a good deal and dad comes up with the gelt. Comprende?

could you explain "4 carb (CVK) " for me?

Can only describe it. No real knowledge.
Four small Japanese carbs marked on body with CVK enclosed in a raised rectangle. Lower down are letters KEI (then a pointy stylized K?)HIN.
Each carb is fitted to a rubber adapter, each pair of which attach to inlet ports on an aluminum(?) set of paired "runners".
The runners are about 6" long and come closer together where they meet the head.
The carbs are "SU Type", ie dashpot & needle with "variable venturi". No clue as to their original application. Venturi is about 1 3/8" diameter.

Google search shows kawasaki, triumph apps. Will probably put them on eBay, as they look new.
