Bleeding Front Brakes 900 1992

I replaced the strut inserts on my 1992 944 today and had to disconnect the brake line at the fender inner wall so I could lay the strut on the ground. After I put it all back together I went to bleed the front brakes. However, I could not get the pedal to firm up and there was hardley no pressure at the front bleeder screws after numerous pumps at the pedal. Is there something that I am missing here? Do I have to bleed the back brakes also?

Thanks

And if you haven't had the brake fluid flushed in the last 2 years, this would be the perfect time to do it.

When I bleed the brakes today I was unaware that letting the pedal go to the floor could damage the seals in the master cylinder. Could this be the possible reason there is low pressure at the front bleeder screws. What would be the easiest way to tell if I damaged the master cylinder without rigging up some fancy plugs? I'll kick myself if I need a new master cylinder.

Thanks for the help!

Does your 940 have ABS? If you have abs you need to turn the ignition key to the "ON" position when bleeding the brakes. Has something to do with powering certain solenoids in the ABS modulator...

You will have to bleed all four brakes in order to remove what is likely an air bubble somewhere in the lines, the junction box, or the master cylinder. This is where a pressure bleeder comes in real handy.
