Should I use this heater control valve? 900

I get most of my parts from an independant mech.(used to work at dealer)and he only uses quality parts and sometimes only volvo in certain areas.this past weekend I replaced oil cooler coolant hoses, thermostat, coolant and was about to put on the vavle but it looks a bit different from the original and it's all plastic,I wanted to replace while I had the cooling down and didn't because of the difference,I called him to see if he had the original style but this the one he uses on all replacments. just checking to see if anyone has tryed this type.Of course it means draining the system again.I beleive his parts come from world pac and I've never had any problems from previous parts and it's always cheaper than the dealer. Thanks Dave

The alternative is half-plastic, half-metal, so you really don't gain anything there. Just jot it down as a wear item that must be replaced periodically.

Definitely. I was hesitant too, but I readhed in and touched the old valve that still looked so good, gave it a wiggle and it cracked in half. Just like that. Change it out now.

I bought an OEM valve just recently. It was also all plastic and made in Japan.
