Manual trani Buzzing or minor grind from 2nd to 3rd? 200 1989

Noticed it this weekend.
Sometimes when upshifting from 2nd to 3rd, I get a very very slight buzz-like feel on the shifter. I believe it's on the way into 3rd not on the way out of 2nd. If I slow up on the shift, it isn't there.
Has anyone felt this or know what I have going on? Not that I bang through the gears but I guess I will be shifting a little slower for now on.

With respect to this, I have 231000 miles on my Clutch, Should I be looking at that for a reason? I think they are self adjusting, I have never adjusted it and I have no issues with shifting into 1st gear so I was kinda ruling out that the Clutch is the problem.

Probably time for a new pilot baring, or clutch. They don't usually last much longer then 200K miles.

When you either do, or have the clutch done, do your self a HUGE favor and replace the clutch cable while you are at it. It is absolutly worth it, espically if you haven't had the cable replaced before. The first time you get back in the car, you'll put your foot through the floor! Worth the extra $40 (or so).

I think that you might be on the right track with the clutch. More specifically, your pilot bearing could be on its way out. Experienced a similar problem with our '85 240 wagon last year, where it would buzz starting from about 2800rpm (usually just about when I upshift) and got increasingly louder as the engine reved higher. I thought that something was loose in the exhaust system, but two reputable muffler shops gave it a clean bill of health. In my case, the "buzz" had a metallic ring to it, and I could feel the vibrations through the shifter and the floor near the trans.

Probably time for a new clutch at 231K anyway. You can buy a kit from iPd for, IIRC, under $200 w/shipping.
