hot exhaust 140-160 1973

my 1973 B20F,144,when it is running for awhile,i noticed the exhaust manifold at the 2nd and 3rd cylinder get a glowing red,is this normal to get so hot?the valves have been adjusted...thank you........

Another possibility is retarded ignition. I run mine at about 20° BTDC
with everything hooked up. That is about what you get if you adjust it
by ear for fastest idle and if you don't get pinging, you can advance
it even further and will probably get more power and cooler exhaust.
When it fires late the fuel is still burning when it comes out the exhaust.

sounds like they are running lean, check the injectors w/ an ohm meter,
switch #2 & #3 injectors w/ #1 & #4, check fuel pressure.
