I recently bought a 1997 V90 that no longer had keyless entry fobs. I purchased one from Volvo (very pricey) and had them set it up (a quick process of turning the ingnition key on and off a bunch of times). Anyhow, it works - but not well.

It has a very very short range (like 10 feet tops, and almost none from behind the car (when I am trying to get the rear door open). I have replaced the batteries so I do not think that is an issue.

Anyhow - is this normal?

I purchased 2 fobs for my 1998 V90 at www.keylessride.com They are brand new and work great with one exception.... When I program the 1st Fob, it deactivates the 2nd Fob. Anyone else experience this? FYI...My 1998 actually used a 1997 FOB so be sure to specificy EXACTLY what yours looks like at they have 2 different models for 1998.

You will need to program both fob's at the same time. Just follow the instructions in the owners manual, turning ignition 5 times till red light
flashes then press the key on both fob's one at a time. I have done this on two 98 s90's and worked both times.

Well, mine isn't quite as bad as yours (distance wise) but it doesn't really have a long range. Holding the remote up to your chin will extend the range somewhat (really!) I haven't tried it. I use the chin method :o)
