Well, mine isn't quite as bad as yours (distance wise) but it doesn't really have a long range. Holding the remote up to your chin will extend the range somewhat (really!) The fix that Dick refers to is available on the 700/900 FAQs at http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/BodyDoors.htm#RemoteDoorLockRangeExtender

I haven't tried it. I use the chin method :o)
