440k on my '88 740 700 1988

Just passed 286,000 miles on my 87 745T. Pulled the motor at 282,700 and installed a new Volvo B230FT crate motor. Mint body and very clean interior.
Only flaw is two cracks in the dash. At 200,000 miles I redid all the bushings and replaced the shocks and struts with HD Bilsteins. For those who don't want to spend the money for the HD's your nuts. They are as stiff today as the day I installed them. I can't believe how nice the ride is on the interstate with the new motor and new Michelin MXV4 Plus on 16' Hydras. Even with the the new engine. The car has cost me over the last 16 years about $200 a month not including gas and oil changes. Since basicly everything is pretty much fixed that monthly cost should drop over the next 214,000 miles.

440k on my '88 740 700 1988

I only have 186k miles on my 89 745 TIC but I only bought it a year ago. It replaced an '84 245 TIC that had 340k, which had replaced a '74 145 with 365k that I had driven for 17 years. I sold the 245 TIC on eBay for $200 less than I had bought it 120k miles before and $200 more than I paid for the 745 TIC. My 73 ES is my dingy, it only has 168k. And they say Volvos are expensive.

my 88 740 gle wagons have as follows: 393,000 miles, 235,000 miles, and 180,000 miles! non burn any oil and all are well cared for. My first wagon is just 7,000 miles shy of 400,000 miles!!!!!!!!! Volvos are the best! Oh and my 90 760 gle (v6) has 185,000 miles on it. It runs extremely smooth!

Out of curiosity, why do you have so many '88 wagons?? I, too, have an '88 wagon with 231,000 miles and growing (I have had it for about ten years). They are great cars, but THREE? Just curious . . .
