Reviving '70 145- 20 years 140-160

I was followed home by a '70 145, 155,000 miles, no rust. It was last registered in 1982, indoor storage since. Any thoughts on starting it up? Any organic parts in the carbs to fail? The brake pedal goes right to the floor. I assume organic failure, any thoughts? My local yard has a '71 145 of more recent use, so used parts are available.

Being a '70, I would assume its got them damn stromberg carbs...? Bolt on some SUs if you ahve any. Past that, I'd just change the oil, turn it over with the coil disconnect till the oil light goes off. Change the plugs, drain the gas and fuel lines, replace with fresh, and fire it up. Of course, there could well be fuel pump issues, and them damn stromberg carbs. You'll probably have to at least change the diaphrams in there.

Good luck with it!

"damn stromberg carbs...?" Stromberg? Did Ford own Volvo then? Haven't seen a Stromberg since I played with flathead Fords when I was a kid. Stromberg 97's now being $500.00 a pop. In any cse the car appears to have an SU design with dashpots on top. Worse, the motor appears frozen (it followed me home for very short money). There is oil in it, but being a carburetor car I am afraid it has been breathing in moist air over the years. I have pulled the plugs and poured in Mystery Oil,I will give it a few days.
