Rotor Install Questions 900 1994

Installed new rotors on my '94 945T. Volvo brand...

I'm curious as to why the outter edge of the rotor has a machined "groove" out of it. The two rotors had different grooves cut out of them...can I assume they are for balancing?

Also, couldn't find the alignment marks on the rotors either. Found them on the hub. Will there be any ill effects in the case that they aren't aligned? The car stops well with no vibration or anything.

Thanks,
Bean

You are correct. The machined "bite" on the outside diameter of the rotor is cut at the factory to balance the rotors. You do not have to worry about aligning a new rotor. It only fists in one position anyway (because the wheel aligning pin threads through the rorot into the hub.)
