Rear Axle? Someone knows 700 1987

All,

Over the weekend I jacked up my 745 from the side. The rear axle didn't raise as it usually does. The sping and shock extended and the wheel remained close/on the ground. What's broke or disconnected?

TIA

Normally it is the shock that limits the travel of the axle. You said the shock is extending but I'd still look closely at the mounting bolts for the top of the shock.

I had an old Merc Comet once that had the shock over-extend when I jacked it up. I didn't notice that and, when I lowered the car, the shock bent to one side and jammed there. This meant I had spring action on only one side of the car. Talk about weird ride and handling!

Jim,

I thought it was the shock, they are getting old and the ride has been getting rough. Didn't realize how rough till we got our 91 245.

I am going to source a pair today.

Thanks
