Speedometer drops to zero - odometer keeps working? 700 1987

Sounds like an internal speedometer problem? - (Yazaki) So far it comes back on after a 1/4 - 1/2 mile but getting worse, twice in 10 miles this AM. Causes the cruise to kick out.
I would think the sensor and wiring would be OK since the odometer keeps going.
Any ideas-repair or replacement options?
Thanks

Speedometer drops to zero - odometer keeps working? 700 1987

Hi Roylak,

I'm going to the local Volvo, Mercedes, BMW yard tomorrow looking for 850 wheels. Last time I was there they had about 10 740 wagons in the dirt. I'll look for a speedo for you.

Cheers,

Erwin-- 700 1987

Thanks Erwin, don't make any purchases on my behalf though as I have another unit that has a good speedo but bad odometer. I was hoping someone had been into the head and could give me advice. A search turned up a similar problem and the poster found some "prongs"? that were bent or needed bending.
How's the clutch fault tracing going? We're all curious.

Just looking 700 1987

Don't worry, I wasn't going to buy, just let you know if I found anything. If you still need a taillight I'll check on them too. I could use a good right side one, mine's fogged over.

Regarding the clutch, I posted yesterday about pressure plate numbers. I'll give you a call when I get into work this afternoon.

Regards,
