Braking causes moderate vibration 200 1986

My 86 240 with 230,000 miles vibrates noticably when I apply the brakes. The vibration only happens when the car is going downhill. There is no pulling to one side or the other. Rear brakes were recently replaced (the vibration was happening prior to replacing the brakes), the front ones are about 6 months old. The mechanic suggested replacing the rotors. Does anyone have any experience with this?
I would appreciate any advice.

Replace you rotors. $23 each from fcpgroton.com. Also, be sure that the pad shims are in place (mechanics generally throw the old ones away and neglect to replace them). These are also available from fcpgroton for cheap.

Probably you have warped rotors. It might be possible to machine them on the hubs IF there is enough thickness to be legal still... Even doing that the warping can come back in a shorter time than seems possible.. it is all about heat cooling and stress...

If you go with new rotors be certain the hubs are clean and run true, and the rotors run true once mounted. Mac
