removing doors 120-130

Does anyone have any good ideas for removing frozen screws on the door hinges. Thought it might be a good idea to check before assaulting screws with torch and impact devices.....

Thanks

JH

I used P-Blaster and a hand-held impact driver. It took some soaking with Blaster, but it worked well. I was afraid to use the pneumatic impact wrench. The hand-held job cost about $7.00 at Harbor Tools, so they're cheap and available.

I did this to replace a worn hinge (with a used, less worn hinge, and 5 years later I have to do this again - no hole to lube the thing. I recommend getting more screws before you pull this apart, as you will more likely than not have to replace some of the screws after going at them with an impact screwdriver.

When you re-install the screws, put some copper grease on the threads. It will prevent seizing in the future.

John;

Getting some penetrating oil on the threads would certainly help (this might require access from behind, since its unlikely that any will make it through from the hinge/fastener head side)...that, in combination with an impact driver is whhat I would try first...if that doesn't do the trick, maybe add heat.

Good Luck
