245 Wagon oil pressure 200 1986

Car has 200Kmis (centennial event was last week ...) Had my mechanic change the oil ... now pressure is very HIGH ..!! Before pressure was about 3 bar, falling as the car warmed to about 2. Now it is over 4 when idling, and a little less when warm at idle. The mechanic says he put in 10-40W oil. I'm accustomed to oil pressure being sensed at a remote location in the head, so can't see how an incorrect or incorrectly installed filter could cause, but I'm not sure in this car ... what do you think?

If your oil pressure sender was slightly bumped or moved during the oil change then maybe the wires going to it are not making proper contact thus the high reading. The oil pressure gauge reads higher with the more OHM's the sender sends out. Thus if it's slightly an open ciruit then the gauge is getting the higher reading. I would unplug the sender wires, clean all contact and the reconnect. This is a shot in the dark but it could help. Post the results. Good Luck!

Sincerely,
