Well, it's confirmed..my mitsu TD04 13C is leaking oil..it has oil coming out of the turbo hose right after the turbo outlet..it's still not in a bad shape since there is just minimal smoke coming out of the pipes and it still boost wheneer i punch the gas or turn off the overdrive..So, how much would it cost to get this thing re-build..could someone like me who work on cars take the turbo off..or should a professional turbo shop do this..thanks.

If the rear exhaust smokes while idling (may take 3-5 minutes) then it's the turbo.

Takes an hour or so if you've done it once to replace the turbo. Maybe three-four hours clock time if it's your first time.

Make sure you get about three or four of those $5 turbo oil return to crankcase O-rings. Chances are you'll tear a couple unless you're really lucky.
The manual says to thread the new turbo w/the turbo return pipe on it into the block and then hook up the turbo to the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe. Well, maybe, but there's quite a few things to line up and some don't like to line up if you get my drift. I put mine in w/o the turbo oil return and installed it afterwards. Oil filter must be out to do this but I think it has to be out anyway to get to the back of the exhaust manifold to release the turbo.
Try not to bend or flex the turbo oil inlet pipe...especially if you're using dino oil. The old #@$% is coked in there near the turbo and if it lets go with your new turbo and plugs the bearing the turbo will die and the warranty is void...yes they can tell if the turbo was run dry!
