Still not fixed! Help! 700

My car sometimes has a slight hesetation when i first put it in drive but it always gets over it. And it stalls occasionally. It doesn't give me any warning, it just shuts down. I've checked the fuel pump relay, it was good, replaced the crank position sensor, and replaced the AMM. My mechanic said the AMM was bad and I replaced it with a used one. When i replaced it my car did start driving better. Could it be the AMM or is there another culprit. The car always restarts, if not immediately then within a minute or two. I'm getting aggrivated. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Check your throttle position switch, and clean the throttle body if it's dirty. With the throttle body open, you ought to be able to hear the switch click at the closed position. The switch may need adjustment, or the actuating rod for it might, and excess varnish and gunk in the throttle can impede closing too. A can of carb cleaner and a $1 throttle body gasket is all that may be needed.
Good luck with it.

PS- don't think this is your problem, but just yesterday found that our switch was actually unplugged on our 88 740. Seemed to idle in traffic just fine, believe it or not, but I don't know why. It's definitely happier with it hooked up.

Possibly the "new" AMM was better able to cope with a failing Oxygen Sensor, which has gotten beyond coping with? Do you know how many miles are in the sensor?

On 2nd thought, I doubt a bad sensor would cause a complete shut down.
But I had that same symptom once, which would go away after reseating the AMM connector. Only happened a couple of times after the 1st event.
