Does anyone have any experience or opinions regarding the use of a K&N air filter for a Turbo model '94 945? Also wondering what enthusiasts use by way of oil filters. I'm going to be using Mobil 1 synthetic next oil change and would like the collective wisdom on this issue. Thanks in advance.

These are some of the main "can of worm" topics we have on the board. I would suggest scanning the archives. However, if you want my opinion:

1) Oil: Mobil 1 and Amsoil are very good oils. I used M1 and switched to Amsoil.

2) Air filter: Stock paper is fine. If you want a reusable filter look at K&N or Amsoil. Don't expect any great hp increase. You can read the archives for the great debates on K&N.

3) Oil filter: Mann is very good. (Same as stock Volvo). Some people like running the boutique filters like Mobil 1, K&N, or Amsoil

MANN oil filters. These are Volvo OEM and can be bought at any of the BB advertisers. I buy mine in cases of 10 from FCPGroton.com for about $33.

Good call on the Mobile 1, I'm running it in my '94 945T.

K+N are a good product and last with cleaning, you get less air flow resistance that will help a NA motor. You will not see preformace boost on turbo auto becuse boost psi will be controled by waste gate valve, and you will get 9 psi boost with a normally operating turbo and any clean filter reguardless. Moble one also good product, don't hesitate to use it!
