Brake lights won't work! 200 1989

The brake lights will not work! All other tail lights function . So far, I have replaced the bulbs, brake light switch, and the light failure relay (with one from the junkyard.) I am making the assumption that the "new" relay is good. Had a light out warning that has now resolved with the "new" the relay.
What am I overlooking? Would one light out (thinking the mid window light on tailgate)make the rest not work?
Thanks

Thanks to all. I got them to work. Checked the brake light switch with a multimeter(?) and found that it functioned, cleaned the contacts for the bulbs, and then started to clean the terminals at the fuse box. Found that the terminals were very corroded. ALSO found that the fuse was intact BUT the fuse apparently was shorter (plastic looked slightly melted and compressed). The fuse "wire" was intact though. Replaced fuse. THE LIGHTS NOW WORK!!! Am not sure what fixed them- probably a combination of all that you suggested!
Thanks again for the help

99% sure that the fuse is what fixed the problem.

Fuses always seems to be the problem when I forget to look at them.

Fuses are so "simple" they were "overlooked"- figured it would always be the most expensive part (s) that broke! Next time-- FUSES FIRST!!!

Which switch did you replace? If it was black plastic, about 2" long with a hose attached, that is the cruise cut switch.

The lights are not wired in series, therfore one bad bulb will not cause the others to go out...When you say that you put a "New" brake switch in did that come from the same source as the "New" relay? I would start by making sure that the wiring is ok by disconnecting the brake switch and connecting the two wires together to see if you can force the lights to turn on...
