Painted brake calipers and valve cover...any opinions? 700

My friend's dad wanted to paint the brake calipers (or the casing or something, whatever brake component you can see just inside the rims)on his Audi and he offered to do my brake calipers and valve cover in the color of my choice. Do you think that it would look good, or just like one of those cheap mods people do in the hopes that they will look cool? If you think it's a good idea, what color should I go with? My 1988 744 turbo is dark blue and you can see pictures of it at

Thanks for your input.

Painted calipers add a bit of that finished look. Because they rust so easily, I chose to paint mine using hi-temp engine paint. Looks pretty good, but my wheels don't let you see a whole lot through the spokes. Your Dracos would show a lot more.

If you look along the right side, you can see my caliper peeking through:

It is more for coolness. I'd leave the valve cover alone, unless there's a lot of wear on the surface. The calipers are something to consider, though, as they're visible and the rust buildup (if applicable) can be unsightly.

As for color ... red always works out for calipers, though silver and black are alright too. Yellow would just scream "rice".
