Thorough Cooling system flushing procedures. (Volvo Green, Type C coolant) 200 1990

first, I'll add my thanks to Fitz for a very informative post.

To clean that plastic reservoir when it gets deposits/scale in it, I remove it, put about a dozen small stones (acorn-sized) in there and give it a hell of a shaking until my arms can stand it no more. This is kinda like sandblasting the reservoir from the inside and gets most deposits off the sides and bottom. Then I empty out the stones, fill it with vinegar and let it sit overnight. That pretty much gets the rest.
