b230 E rear camshaft seal? Coreplug? URGENT OIL LEAK!!! 200 1988

The B23 engines had a half-moon plug. The B230 series have a circular plug. You need to get a new plug, new cam cover gasket and some RTV for the corners of the cover gasket. This is an easy repair.

Yes, it is likely that a plugged flame trap caused the blowout. This happened to my son's '88 240. Go through the flame trap, its hoses, and the nipple on the intake manifold and be sure all are clear. While you have the trap off, put a 5/8 inch hose on the outlet of the oil separator, remove the oil filler cap, and blow through the hose. If you can blow through easily the separator is clear, if not, remove and replace or cleann the separator.
