Chassis Braces 900

I put an upper strut brace on my 1999 V70 and had a noticeable improvement in the ride and handling on rough roads and during turning. I want to get similar results for my 1993 940 NA.

The best seems to be to put on both upper and lower Cherry Turbo Braces, at a cost of $203 plus shipping (from IPD). But I also saw IPD has a steel lower brace (no upper) for the 940 also. It is a curved steel single rolled bar type, I'm sure not as rigid as the Cherrys, for about $47 plus.

The car is mostly my wife's so will not be drive to extremes. Will the single rolled bar design (which I believe is similar to the one that can be purchased from Volvo) provide some improvement and benefit? Ours is not a race car, but some improvement would be good.

Thanks

If you're interested in chassis braces, I know there's a board member here - John Sargent - who is making his own, and selling for quite a bit less than the Cherry Turbos... you may want to contact him.

I'm planning to pick up a set of braces at some point, but I've got new summer tires and new shocks/strut inserts on "the list" ahead of them. Like T-bone, I've got IPD sways and they really made a dramatic difference in handling. Used sets show up once in a while (got mine used), and IPD usually has a sale every spring (15% off, I think), if you want to save a few $$.

I installed the IPD lower brace on the 944T recently. To be honest I haven't noticed much improvement. It is a well made brace however, in terms of material and construction. I will probably add a Cherry Turbo upper brace at some point. In terms of real handling improvements , I installed the IPD anti-sway bars on the 940 Turbo a few years ago and they made a remarkable difference. The most bang for the buck has to be the anti-sway bars, followed by good gas strut inserts and shocks. Making sure the strut (radius)rod bushings are in good shape and perhaps upgrading to poly can make a difference as well. My $.02
